I feel like there are times when I feel I have to limit being reasonable. Someone you know does something that hurts you or says something. He or she apologizes but does it again, and again and again. How many times do we have to forgive someone? How many times are they going to do it and ask for forgiveness and say they wont do it again?
God isn’t reasonable. He doesn’t want us to be either!
He’s forgiving. He forgives our sin(s) no matter how many times we do it. And he asks us to be forgiving no matter how many times we have to do it.
“If you see your friend going wrong, correct him. If he responds, forgive him. Even if it’s personal against you and repeated seven times through the day and seven times he says ‘I’m sorry, I won’t do it again,’ forgive him.” -LUKE 17:34 (MSG)
I know it’s not easy. This has been a daily struggle for a lot of us for a long time. Ask God for His grace. Thank Him for the gift of forgiveness and ask him to help you offer His grace to others. It doesn’t get better, but it does get easier!
